15. YOUR READING LEAN
We compute a daily profile of the political lean of what you read, from the outlets and articles you open. It is shown only to you, is not sold or shared, is not used for advertising or to make decisions about you, and is deleted 30 days after you delete your account.16. DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT
You can delete your account in your profile. After you confirm, sign-in stops within minutes: your sessions end, any paid plan ends without a refund, and your email address and name are taken out of your sign-in record and held aside for 30 days, so we can restore the account through the link we email you, or if you write to us from its email address. A restored account comes back on the Free plan, without paid time, packs or a founding place. Nothing else is removed in that time. After 30 days we delete your sign-in record, your email address, your name and everything else that identifies you, except as follows. If you paid, we keep the records of your payments and the consent you gave to each payment, with your identity removed, for at least 7 years for tax and accounting (a payment consent at least 3 years). We keep records of what was read and reacted to, and the ledger of allowances, with nothing linking them to you. Our payment processor, Stripe, keeps its own records of your payments under its privacy policy.17. LEAVING SURVEY
When you delete your account we ask once, optionally, why you are leaving. An answer is stored with the date, your plan and the number of whole months you had the account, and with nothing that identifies you. Anything you type in the free-text box is kept as you wrote it.18. WHAT YOUR BROWSER STORES AND CONTACTS
We use no advertising cookies, and no analytics unless you accept them. We keep your sign-in session, your cookie choice and a few preferences in your browser's storage. Your browser loads fonts, publication logos and article images from other companies' servers, which see your IP address. If something on the site breaks, an error report goes to our error-reporting service so we can fix it: what failed, on which kind of page, the name and version of your browser and the name of your system. It never receives your name, email address or which articles you read, and it does not keep your IP address. If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, our analytics provider collects anonymous usage data: the pages visited, the buttons and links clicked and the forms sent (never what you type), click and scroll heatmaps, how fast pages load, the steps of signing up, starting checkout and completing a payment, and recordings of visits with all text and typing hidden (none on account, payment or settings screens). It never records which article you read, is never tied to your name, email address or account, estimates your approximate city and country, and does not keep your IP address. See our Cookie Notice.19. LOCAL NEWS AND LOCATION
With your permission, your browser shares your position, which we send to a mapping service to find your city. We store only the city (and its county, state and country), with a record of the cities your device has reported from and when, and never your exact position or postcode. City names, with nothing that identifies you, are sent to our news provider and AI provider to find local news. Your city records are deleted 30 days after you delete your account. If you accept analytics cookies, our analytics provider estimates your approximate city and country from your internet address; the address itself is not kept.20. AI ANALYSIS
Our Bias Breakdowns, Claim Checks, Compare Coverage, Social Pulse and topic summaries are written by AI models from leading AI providers, working from published news articles. We never send these providers your name, email address, account details or reading history. To find local news we send city names, with nothing that identifies you. This analysis is information only, not advice, and it can be wrong or incomplete; our Terms of Service explain this in full.21. PRODUCT NEWS EMAILS
We send occasional Newsology product news only if you ask for it, by ticking the box when you sign up or by turning it on later in Email Settings. The box is never ticked for you. You can turn it off at any time in Email Settings or with the unsubscribe link in each email. We keep your choice, and the wording you agreed to, until 30 days after you delete your account.22. DISPUTES
Any dispute about this policy is resolved under the dispute resolution section of our Terms of Service. To the extent the law allows, the limitation of liability in our Terms of Service also applies. This policy is between you and Newsology LLC only.23. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE?
